Jennifer Townsend

Jennifer Townsend - Clinic Manager, Physiotherapist

Jennifer Townsend is the clinic manager for the Active Recovery clinics. She is a registered physiotherapist and is certified in acupuncture. Jennifer has been providing Durham Region with Physiotherapy services for over 28 years. Since graduating from the University of Western Ontario, Jennifer has continued to develop her manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, and patient treatment skills through numerous ongoing courses. Jennifer has gained significant experience, as well, in the assessment and treatment of athletes. She has provided community support for several sports teams including cross country, track, hockey, soccer, and field lacrosse. Jennifer remains actively involved in fitness, participating in and competing in women’s figure bodybuilding as well as cycling and running.

Tracey Riley

Tracey Riley - Registered Massage Therapist
Tracey Riley graduated with honours from Trillium College in 2010. She is registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario. She brings excellent people skills, intuitive therapeutic techniques, and has become a dedicated team member at the Active Recovery Clinic. She is trained in dealing with sports injuries, muscle strains and sprains, and motor vehicle accident related injuries. Tracey deals very closely with WSIB injuries as well. Tracey’s skills will help you return your muscles to their pre-injured activities.

Krista Preik-Collins

Registered Massage Therapist 

Krista Preik-Collins is a long time Durham Region resident and a graduate of Royal Canadian College of Massage Therapy in Toronto. Krista obtained her license to practice in Ontario in July 2016. Using her well-honed client care skills and meticulous attention to detail Krista is dedicated to meeting and exceeding each client’s unique requirements. Krista works with each client to create a unique treatment plan using a combination of techniques including  Therapeutic Cupping and Swedish Massage.


Your program of care may include reducing stress, pain management, sprains, strains and headaches, WSIB recovery management; Motor Vehicle accident recovery, maternity care, plans, relaxation, and health muscle and joint health.

Alison Venables

Registered Kinesiologist
Alison Venables - Kinesiologist
Alison Venables is a Registered Kinesiologist with a Bachelor of Science honours Degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph. She has been providing kinesiology/exercise therapy services for over 20 years with a focus on therapeutic rehabilitation. Alison also has extensive experience performing functional abilities/capacity evaluations, DAC evaluations, worksite and in-home assessments, as well as physical demands analysis. She is a certified work capacity evaluator and keeps her kinesiology skills current with the latest research developments through completion of educational courses.

Scott Turner

Scott Turner - Physiotherapist
Scott Turner is a University of Toronto graduate with an undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy and has been licensed by the province of Ontario and practiced as a Registered Physiotherapist for 20 years. Over the years, Scott has obtained post graduate credentials in various scopes of practise: McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of the spine (2000) and mulligan mobilization with movement (2003) . As well, Scott has training in Benign Vestibular Rehabilitation, Osteoporosis/Osteopenia, physical rehabilitation and Typical Idiopathic Scoliosis physical rehabilitation. Scott has been a member of the Active Recovery’s rehabilitation team now for 12 years. Scott’s strength is assessing a person’s mechanical orthopedic problems and educating them on specific therapeutic self treatment.

Jeff Whelan

Jeff Whelan - Physiotherapist
Jeff Whelan has been a registered physiotherapist practicing in the Durham Region since 1994. He has specialized solely in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Jeff has an ongoing interest and involvement in the study of orthopedic conditions and rehabilitation practices. He also has extensive education in manual therapy techniques. Jeff was an assessment specialist with the local DAC.

Cheryl Vanderlinde

Registered Massage Therapist
Cheryl Vanderlinde is a registered massage therapist who graduated from Sir Sanford Fleming College in 2010. Following her graduation and registration she studied abroad in England, learning various relaxation treatments such as hot stone massage and bamboo massage. She has worked on a five star spa located on a cruise ship. Cheryl is experienced in many types of other massages ranging from therapeutic deep tissue, motor vehicle accident rehabilitation to gentle relaxation. She has a genuine love for the field and it shows in her work.

Greg Swynar

Greg Swynar - Registered Physiotherapist
Greg Swynar is a Registered Physiotherapist who graduated with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from The University of New England and an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from The University of Western Ontario. While attending The University of New England, he completed research relating to the effect of bicycle seat position and low back pain. Greg is currently pursuing credentials to become a Certified McKenzie Therapist and has completed additional post-graduate coursework in shoulder rehabilitation. He enjoys numerous physical activities including downhill mountain biking, running and weightlifting as well as the challenges and variety found in an outpatient orthopaedic clinic.

Heather McCaillancourt

Registered Massage Therapist
Heather McCaillancourt has been registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario since 1999. Heather has also been certified athletic therapist/certified sorts therapist with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association since 1996. She is the head medical therapist with Team Italia’s Men’s and Women’s National Ball hockey team and travels for the World championships. She volunteered and taught with the Canadian Ski Patrol System. Heather teaches at Centennial College being involved in the massage therapy, police foundations and pre-service fire programs since 1999. She has worked with various sports teams and dance teams that compete at the professional, semi-pro and amateur levels. Heather also has specialty working not only with athletes but also has vast experience with corporate clients, motor vehicle accident injuries, infant, child and pregnancy massage.
